Technicraft Manifesto

-the more you consume, the less you live.

-make--whether or not you are inspired.

-remain open to adventure, ideas.

-quality is paramount.

-NO! to planned obsolescence.

-criticize pop and challenge conformity.

-dance

-sleep.

The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.
Trying to define yourself is like trying to bite your own teeth.
The relationship of self to other is the complete realization that loving yourself is impossible without loving
everything defined as other than yourself.
No more pretending, that the external world exists altogether independently of us.
Alan Watts, 1915-1973

people need connection to their material culture, but the means we use to create this connection can
lead to an inauthentic experience. returning to craft is an important step in our mutual-cultural rehumanization.

Born into a family of craftspeople who work with their hands, TJacob is continuing the generations-long traditions his family established as proud craftspeople. Collections are handcrafted in Brooklyn, New York with consciously sourced and repurposed precious materials.

About TJacob Hooker:

As a designer dedicated to craftsmanship and the mastery of fine art techniques, I believe socially conscious design is the key to the future. In practice, my aim is to create aesthetically captivating objects that address growing concerns about the social, and environmental costs of luxury goods, and consumerist culture. I moved to New York City in 2010, from San Francisco, California. In 2015 I graduated from the Fashion Institute of Technology's Accessories Design Department.
